Description:North Georgia Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for Vice President of Economic Development. This position will report to the President of the College. This position is responsible for the effective and successful implementation of all Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) initiatives enhancing the economy of Northeast Georgia, to include providing support to the regions community economic development enterprises, the development of locally initiated economic development programs including customized employee training, short term career training and locally initiated continuing education programs. The vice president shall provide leadership to the department of economic development to ensure the activities and outcomes of the division are aligned with the college mission. The vice president is actively involved in the recruitment of new business and the expansion of existing businesses within the college eight (8) service areas, Additionally, the vice president develops and maintains partnerships with area Chambers of Commerce, business leaders, local governments, and community development leaders; develops and delivers workforce training programs for business and industry, assessing training needs and program design; successful grant writing and administration at the local, state and federal level.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business, industrial technologies or related degree and seven (7) years of work experience in the private sector of the economy. The experience should include employee supervision; budget planning, building collaborative partnerships; strategic planning and data analysis. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, negotiation skills, understanding of marketing and sales, understanding of advancing technologies and the ability to build cooperative teamwork with current and future employers.
