Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

Serve in the U.S. Central Command’s communication integration (CCCI) directorate as a public affairs specialist.

More About this Role:

  • Use public affairs and communication expertise, knowledge of the CENTCOM area of responsibility, operational data and media research and analysis to prepare public affairs guidance (PAG) and other communication documents
  • Provide support and onsite expertise related to the development and synchronization of communication strategies, objectives, and themes for deliberate and contingency planning at the strategic and operational levels
  • Represent the CCCI Directorate in working groups and operational planning teams to ensure public affairs is integrated in command planning efforts
  • Work independently and in small groups in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines
  • Develop exercise planning and PAG, and provide exercise support in the USCENTOM AOR and stateside
  • Collaborate with J-3, J-5, J-7 and other offices within USCENTCOM
  • Coordinate with OSD-Public Affairs, Services PA, Interagency PA and USCENTCOM Component Command PA offices
  • Develop and review Public Affairs annexes for operations orders and contingency plans
  • Provide staff support to the Chief of Plans; create presentations, papers, and staff packages; perform situational analysis; and monitor trends and regional issues

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of  experience in developing public affairs plans and media campaigns
  • Current U.S. passport:
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in a dynamic and highly political environment is required
  • Must exhibit excellent organizational, time management, writing, editorial, and presentation skills

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Defense Information School (DINFOS) Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course (PAOQC)
  • Previous experience in a country or area in the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility - Middle East or Central Asia
  • Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) or military planning experience
  • Joint professional military education (JPME)
