PRODUCTION MANAGER opportunity with a manufacturing company located in AVON PARK, FL. This is a direct hire position.


 


Job Description:


Seymour Staffing is seeking a Production Manager to join the team at our client’s manufacturing facility in Avon Park, FL.  Successful applicants will be responsible for management of the Sanitary Maintenance and Supply industry at Avon Park.  This includes manufacturing, administration, training, quality, and service functions to produce quality products and meet sales and net income objectives while achieving the company’s mission of training inmate workers. This is an ISO 9000 certified plant and the manager will ensure that all certification standards are attained


 


Job Requirements:


  • Supervise, train and develop a cohesive team of subordinates to manage inmates to manufacture high quality janitorial products to meet sales and net income objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate production to meet customer needs and inventory goals in an efficient, effective, and timely manner. 
  • Oversee the delivery system, order entry, product improvement and pricing to meet the needs of the customer. 
  • Recommend and implement capital equipment and improvement projects.
  • Develop, oversee, and manage the annual budget.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with on-site DOC personnel. 
  • Meet and exceed the annual MBO goals as set by the management of the company. 
  • Ensure safe work practices and procedures are maintained in compliance with regulatory and administrative codes.
  • Fulfill mission requirements of Pride Strategic Plan and annual goals.
  • Interface with all support departments as required to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to reduce cost, increase capacity, increase profitability, develop new products, enhance quality, reduce waste, and build teamwork. 
  • Manage plant first pass correctly.
  • Achieve and maintain ISO Certification
  • Direct Sales Force in order to grow the business profitably and target specific markets to sell SM&S products and services.


 


Qualifications:


            Education and/or Experience:


B.S. or B.A. degree with a major in business administration, production, or marketing with 5-10 years of progressive experience in management, production, quality, operations, or related field.  Profit and loss experience a must with budgeting skills.


 


            Language Skills:


Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and orally, with peers, subordinates, staff, upper management, customers, and the Department of Corrections personnel to carry out the functions of the industry.  Ability to read in interpret complex documents such as invitations to bid, safety regulations, operating manuals, budgets, company policies/procedures, and personnel rules/regulations.  Ability to speak effectively before groups inside and outside of the industry.  Ability to communicate effectively by telephone and other electronic media. Written ability to write reports to ensure understanding.


 


            Mathematical Skills:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.  Ability to compute rate, percent and interpret graphs.  Ability to calculate and make projections based upon historical information and anticipated deviance.  Ability to use computer formulas to plan and organize raw materials, wip, finished goods, and operating supplies.


 


            Reasoning Ability:


Ability to solve complex and practical problems dealing with people and things where a variety of skill and experience is required to arrive at a solution.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to analyze and disseminate information for the purpose of planning and developing projections.  Ability to understand and guide others to be successful in getting the job done.


 


            Specialized Knowledge and/or Skill:


Blending/mixing of chemicals to manufacture soaps, disinfectants, cleaning compounds, and other liquid/solid sanitary maintenance products experience/knowledge.  Operation of personal computers, spreadsheets, and word processing software, communications programs.  Familiar with other office machines and equipment to include multi-line telephones, copier, and fax machines.  Familiar with standard office practices, filing, record keeping, and generally accepted accounting practices.  Must be proficient in the areas of the company’s information management system that are applicable to this position.  Individual must complete this requirement within 90 days of hire or promotion to position.


 


            Other Skills and Abilities:


Ability to manage, lead, train, and develop others to meet the ever-evolving needs of customers, Successful completion of DC training and Pride training programs.


 


Physical Demands:


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, use feet to operate pedals of a vehicle; and must occasionally lift and/or/ move up to 50 pounds.  Use of computer and keyboard to type, push buttons, and view objects on the monitor.


 


Work Environment: 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to chemical fumes and caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, dust level is moderate.
