PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR opportunity with a manufacturing company located in SANDERSON, FL. This is a direct hire position.


Job Description:

Seymour Staffing is seeking a Production Supervisor to join the team at our client’s manufacturing facility in Sanderson, FL.  Successful applicants will manage the paint plant in Sanderson with one employee and approximately 10 inmate workers that produce highway and parking lot paint. Supervises and coordinates the activities of production workers to produce products to customer specifications, while providing on-the-job training relative to plant operations and equipment by performing the following duties.


Job Requirements:

  • Manage plant and ensure operation is profitable and meets customer demands.
  • Manufacture quality products and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work issues.
  • Checks out and transports inmate workers to job site.
  • Provides on-site, on-the-job training to workers within the plant.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Coordinate activities of individual departments and create a team atmosphere for workers.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Work with customers and vendors to coordinate receiving of raw materials and shipping of finished goods.
  • Any other duties as needed to maintain operation of plant as directed by Operations Manager.



            Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree with 1 year of directly related paint plant experience, or Associates Degree with 3 years related paint plant experience and/or training; or 5 years related experience with supervision of 5 or more individuals.


            Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of workers within industry. Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, and/or other electronic media (e.g. e-mail).


            Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, percent, and interpret graphs.


            Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


            Specialized Knowledge and/or Skill:

Operation of Industrial Machinery, forklifts and other material handling equipment. Basic hand tool operation, knowledge of preventative maintenance concepts and procedures, general factory production protocol, ability to plan and coordinate multiple activities. Computer knowledge helpful.   Must be proficient in the areas of the company’s information management system that are applicable to this position.  Individual must complete this requirement within 90 days of hire or promotion to position.


            Other Skills and Abilities:

DC trained to supervise inmate workers; cross trained in other production areas of plant.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, use feet to operate pedals of vehicle; and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.


Work Environment: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to chemical fumes and caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, dust level is moderate.
