As Warehouse Supervisor, you are expected to oversee the shipping, receiving and order processing activity of your area of responsibility.
You will be responsible for promoting a safe and collaborative work environment, enforcing the adherence of your team’s activity to Standard Work for all the processes involved in fulfilling orders and re-stocking inventory. You are expected to promote the continuous improvement of the pre-defined operational metrics and targets related to safety / 5s, quality, efficiency, people, cost and delivery.
You will be involved in the selection and training of new employees as well as evaluating and managing their performance.

-Safety and 5s
  • Be a champion in promoting employee safety.
  • Encourage employees to identify safety risks and communicate them to your manager.
  • Monitor regularly, that safety rules and regulatory requirements (OSHA) are enforced and followed by all employees.
  • Follow and enforce 5s processes with your teams.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of Shipping and Receiving Shippers and Traffic Clerks.
  • Enforce compliance with Standard Work at all times on all processes.
  • Participate in interview processes to select new employees. Perform JIT trainings as needed and ensure employees are cross-trained on all shipping-receiving processes.
  • Responsible for the timely and detailed submission of employee performance evaluations.
    -Shipping Accuracy
  • Monitor the shipping accuracy of your department on a daily basis.
  • Discuss accuracy issues with shippers and coach them to improve their performance.
    -On Time Delivery (Request Date Service Levels)
  • Monitor that no internal problem prevents the shipment of orders on or before their schedule ship dates.
    -Labor Efficiency
  • Manage the shipping capacity (through a labor planning tool) to assure that there is enough staff to cover customer requirements at any point and that the excess capacity is utilized in other areas or adjusted to improve efficiency.
  • Track efficiency on a daily basis and communicate with shippers to identify waste and continuously improve performance.
-Order Processing / Traffic control
  • Supervise the trailer traffic control (dock assignment), order release, order closing and carrier communication during your shift.
  • Monitor scrap (product damage) levels of the shipping-receiving process and communicate your team’s performance with them to identify actions to improve it.
-Equipment Maintenance
  • Monitor the correct functioning of equipment (forklifts, shrink wrap machines)

Exercise oversight responsibility for preventing loss or damage to equipment

Retail + Shipping Office Supervisor
Supervise the release of orders, the booking of orders in customer’s Transportation Management Systems, and the assignment of pre-load trailers (maximize the number of loads that are pre-loaded).
Supervise the trailer and container traffic coordination through traffic clerks (pre-load trailer assignment to dock doors, carrier assignment to correct doors, trailer movement coordination with internal driver).
Maintain “Dock Assignment” system updated at all times
Audit orders as they are turned in by shippers
Supervise the correct generation, distribution and filing of order paperwork (packing list, BOL and commercial invoice generation and distribution).
