Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, Sr. Copywriter partners with other Copywriters, Designers, Art Directors and Account Managers as a contributor to creative deliverables. The Sr. Copywriter is responsible for strategic and conceptual development of messages, developing and editing compelling content for marketing collateral, advertising, new business proposals, RFPs, direct mail, email, banner ads, website content, videos, training materials and other marketing material as necessary. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Generate ideas, develop concepts and edit content for a variety of clients
  • Develop clear, straightforward, engaging messaging across multiple channels (digital, print, direct mail and other media) for a variety of marketing campaigns
  • Push the conventional thinking of colleagues and break down messaging barriers in order to provide recommendations that help solve challenges and/or issues
  • Provide critical creative thinking that will help shape and/or influence recommendations
  • Inspire and empower writers and designers throughout the development of online and print marketing communications
  • Ensure that the creative team uses best practices throughout the creative development process in order to deliver high quality work in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions working collaboratively with all internal team members to identify key strategic messages and copy points to be communicated
  • Deliver assignments on time and within an allotted budget working within any established brand guidelines that may exist
  • Manage a high volume of work with a minimum of supervision
  • Lead presentation of content during Client meetings and presentations as needed
  • Deliver a high volume of work on a variety of accounts with limited supervision
  • Exercise good judgment regarding projects and initiatives and other company related efforts with general guidance from ACD/Creative Director   
  • Communicate challenges to ACD/Creative Director as well as help solve them
  • Manage workflow as assigned by the ACD/Creative Director
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned


  • Journalism OR, in lieu of degree, a high school diploma and 12 years of work experience as a copywriter in a creative agency environment
  • A minimum of 8 years of copywriting experience, in a creative agency environment or within a Marketing department

Desired Characteristics:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry a plus
  • Significant experience in developing direct response marketing communications content is a plus
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be self-directed and creative
  • Highly energetic, creative thought leader who is able to take ideas and turn them into crisp, refreshing, creative messaging that brings brands to life
  • Ability to simplify complex subjects and write in different voices for different audiences
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills in order to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent presentation and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AP style
  • Basic knowledge of SEO and social media principles
  • Knowledge of PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, and HTML is a plus
  • Ability to interact positively with clients and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to deliver high quality work in a timely and cost effective manner

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • Effective 1-1-18, new hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 60,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
