The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is looking for a {Job Title} to help us Keep Alaska Moving!


This position is responsible for conducting background checks, facilitating security training and badging for applicants seeking employment at the airport as well as existing badge holders and all associated record keeping as required by federal regulation. This work includes strict compliance with Federal, State and local regulations. Duties center on daily interaction with a diverse customer base. Other duties include, but are not limited to issuing vehicle permits, billing for Airport Badge Office services, processing of background check results, preparing and uploading various required reports and processing monthly, biannual and annual audits.

General duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Verify the identity and work eligibility of each airport badge applicant prior to beginning the background process.Thoroughly analyze identity and eligibility documents to ensure that they are not fraudulent.This review and verification includes documents from foreign born applicants.This information is submitted to the Transportation Security Clearinghouse electronically in the form of fingerprint submissions and Security Threat Assessment requests.
  • Submit required background checks and process results for applicants.
  • Facilitate the correct training for each successful applicant.
  • All vehicles accessing the restricted airside or the commercial curb on the public side of the airport must be issued and display a vehicle permit.The incumbent must approve all vehicles that are permitted in accordance with Transportation Security Regulations (TSRs), the Airport Security Program (ASP) and applicable Municipal Codes 11.10.010.
  • Requests for additional door and/or gate access are received in the Badge Office and submitted to the Airport Security Manager with a recommendation to approve or deny.The incumbent must review applicant's current badge access level and approve/deny if requested access is appropriate for current badge level.
  • This position is responsible for tracking applicants who have submitted additional information regarding their criminal history records check.This includes submitting information to the state attorney for complicated clearance questions, keeping in contact with the employer to determine if a badge is still needed and submitting provided information to Airport Security Manager for adjudication.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interviewees will be tested on grammar, attention to detail and writing skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.Incumbent will work with a diverse customer base, many of whom do not speak English as a first language.
  • Ability to handle multiple complicated tasks with deadlines, changing priorities and interruptions.

  • This position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS may deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers criminal information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
