Job Duties & Accountabilities
Typical Duties of a Manager in Training include:
Assist in the implementation and management of SOPs including, but not limited to, feeding strategies, animal movement and care, proper ventilation practices and the use of pharmaceutical (medication) and biological products (vaccines).
Promote the development of all team members’ production, leadership and organizational skills.
Assist the Manager with local human resource management including safety promotion, work-related injury documentation, recruitment, creating work schedules and reporting hours, administering discipline, performing terminations and accurate recordkeeping.
Perform timely duties and comply with bio-security practices and reporting violations of these practices.
Oversee daily production activities including time management, consulting with Team Leads and team members on long term planning, goal setting and prioritization of activities, coordination of animal transportation and sales, feed and supply deliveries, monitoring of animal health and assisting with daily animal care.
Maintain accurate production records and recommend system and/or team improvements as needed.
Perform maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment as well as housekeeping responsibilities of the barn facilities including trash removal and maintaining the cleanliness of office spaces, lunchrooms, and employee changing areas.
Enforce and implement best management practices for environmental stewardship.
Minimum Qualifications Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelors of Science in Agriculture or a related field preferred.
Two years of experience in modern swine production or related experience required.
One year supervisory experience preferred.
Bachelors degree may be substituted for work experience.

Animal science as applied in modern swine production systems
Information Management Systems for swine production
Standard Operating Procedures
Quality Management Systems, Process Verification

Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
