The City of Greeley, a progressive and fast-growing community in northern Colorado (population. 105,000), has an immediate opening for a planning professional interested in supporting the vision and goals of the community and department through land use planning projects. The ideal candidate will have at least three to five years of land use planning experience, both long-range and current planning skills, the ability to present cases before the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a positive, customer-oriented attitude. The Planning Division has a professional staff of 11 employees and support staff. The Planner II reviews and processes land use and zoning requests; receives citizen and applicant inquiries; provides information by telephone and in person; explains complex procedures, regulations and code requirements; conducts site inspections associated with land development or use requests; manages files for assigned current planning and other land use applications and requests; negotiates with applicants to seek solutions to issues or concerns using individual judgment; researches and reports on requests and special projects; attends meetings; and makes presentations. This position will be filled by an experienced planner with excellent writing, organizing, public outreach, and analytical skills. The position reports directly to the Planning Manager.
