Schedule:  40 hours per week—Tuesday-Saturday with some evenings and weekends  Schedule and work location may change based on the needs of the Library.

Starting monthly salary:  $4542.04 - $4678.30

Position Pur...Extensive and/or working knowledge of (based on assignment):

The library principle and practice of free, open and unrestricted access to information and ideas regardless of the medium in which they exist.

Excellent customer service in order to maintain confidentiality, retain existing customer base and promote the library and its services to gain potential customers.

Advanced research knowledge and search skills using varied resources in multiple formats.

Collection development standards for children, teens, and adults.

Basic circulation policies and procedures.

Effective oral and written communication.

Effective public speaking techniques for a variety of presentations, venues and audiences.

Sound conflict resolution methods.

Reader’s advisory and reference research skills for serving adults, teens and children.

Early literacy knowledge and skills.

Working Environment/Physical Demands

Regular interactions with library visitors, work colleagues and community members

Interruptions will occur frequently and may include challenging situations or conversations

Varied settings within office and community outreach locations

Sitting, standing, walking, bending, pulling/pushing, reaching, twisting, lifting (up to 30 pounds)

Pushing/pulling 100 pound carts

Reading for comprehension and direction (policies & procedures)

Speaking to share/respond, to maintain relationships and to convey instructions and/or direction

Various equipment includes computers with a keyboard and mouse, telephone, and other electronic devices to share documents, information and discussion

Attendance at occasional evening/weekend meetings and/or social/business events

Travel to other locations and/or to workshops/professional meetings/conference

Education & Experience

Masters of Library or Information Science or equivalent.

Prefer three to five years as a successful librarian serving children, teens, and adults

Prefer two to three years of experience working with staff, volunteers and library customers who have diverse backgrounds and views.

Basic principles of budget preparation and control.

Software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet, chat, presentation software, and data management.

Effective training and classroom techniques for adults, teens and children.
