About the Manufacturing Specialist - Production/Warehouse Position

The Manufacturing Specialist ensures the daily production goals are met safely, efficiently, and accurately. Core responsibilities may include operating various pieces of production equipment (i.e., brake, shear, roll-former) to fulfill orders, packaging items for shipment (i.e., using basic carpentry skills with power tools), and picking and loading products (i.e., attention to detail and organizational skills) for superior customer service. This position will report directly to the Production Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Operate various pieces of Production equipment safely and effectively; i.e., brake, shear, standing seam
  • Use provided customer information to prepare and ensure correct selection of finished products for packaging, deliveries, and load outs.
  • Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Use power tools safely and efficiently to construct wooden crates/ pallets for shipping, as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Production environment while keeping area safe, clean, and orderly.
  • Repair and clean the equipment when needed.
  • Assure all products are produced to the highest standard of quality.
  • Follow safety procedures and Company policies for equipment operation. Identify and report unsafe operations and injuries to Supervisor immediately.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • Work under the guidance of Supervisor to perform and complete the assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed.

Some of the Skills and Knowledge Required for the Manufacturing Specialist

  • Lift 50 lbs. regularly and 80 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to stand, bend, and twist during entire shift while working on a concrete floor in warehouse
  • Must have stamina and coordination to work in a demanding shop environment under a variety of climates and conditions
  • Ability to read customer paperwork and decipher a tape measure
  • Ability to operate power tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Exhibit basic computer skills; familiarity with Excel and Outlook
  • Basic math knowledge with the ability to convert fractions and decimals
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communications skills; both written and verbal
  • Perform as part of a team while maintaining a positive work environment
  • Willingness to cross train and move to other areas of shop to support team members when needed
  • High School Diploma or GED; must be 18 years of age to operate machinery
  • Machine maintenance and forklift experience beneficial
  • Familiarity with driving a truck and trailer beneficial; CDL-A License a plus

Store Operational Hours: Job is primarily Monday through Friday, day shift (start time either 7:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m.), with approved overtime and working seasonal half day on Saturday as needed.
