Project Controls Specialist

Use your project and organizational skills to be responsible for management of various business projects that drive revenue, increase productivity and improve processes. Honeywell is currently looking for a Project Controls Specialist to work in its Duluth, GA location. You will be supporting all project controls requirements for HCP/DCS projects as a productive team member by participating in all project stages for multiple industrial controls systems projects. Functionally reports to the Projects Controls manager in the region within which he/she operates.

In this position, you will maintain project cost and schedule tools used by project managers to accurately measure, forecast and track project-related work. You will define detailed measurement and scheduling criteria. Assist, and sometimes take lead, in producing and maintaining project schedules. Produce cost estimates for change order and maintain change log. You will contribute and oversee coordination of monthly project status reports to customers. Perform project cost risk analysis and manage receivables and payables on allocated projects. Lead and insure accurate and timely project invoicing to associated customers. This position may require occasional travel to and/or work in client facilities or remote construction locations.

Ensure projects are on or ahead of schedule
Review all job contract documents
Implement and monitor project schedules
Report project progress
Assemble project closeout documents and warranties
  • Bachelors' degree required
  • Minimum three years' applicable project management/controls experience
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and advanced intermediate in Excel specifically (VLOOKUP function, pivot tables, and comparable Excel Functions).

  • Bachelors' Degree in engineering or project management preferred
  • Hands on experience with enterprise wide cost accounting system, SAP preferred
  • Advance Knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Basic knowledge of VBA is a plus
  • Knowledge of cost estimating, tracking and control
  • Knowledge of business concepts and processes, including contracts, finance, and cash flow
  • Basic knowledge of Scheduling (MS Project and/or Primavera)
  • Basic negotiation & conflict management skills
  • Proactive and resourceful self-starter, with ability to multi-task
  • Experience with multi-disciplined projects (engineering, software development, construction, and procurement) and leading a project controls team
  • The ability to interpret relationships between cost, schedule and resource requirements and how they relate to stated business objectives
  • Experience in presenting project cost and schedule data to both project teams and upper management
  • Experience with schedule and commercial reporting on technical scope execution
  • Certification from PMI is a plus
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
