The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Alaska Marine Highway System is recruiting for a Ferry Terminal Agent I position at the Cordova Ferry Terminal to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
This is a seasonal part-time permanent position and is physically located at the Cordova Ferry Terminal. This position's primary duties are customer service oriented.
In this position, you must be able and willing to work in any/all weather conditions. You must also be able to lift/pull mooring lines that can weigh above 75 lbs. over long distances on wet/slippery surfaces or on catwalks up to 30' above the water. Applicants must be able and willing to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Applicants must be able to work split shifts and change work schedules with little or no notice.
Using a computerized reservations system, make, alter and cancel reservations;
Accept and process payments of various forms, issue tickets, and process refunds;
Organize vehicle traffic for loading, check for hazardous materials in vehicles, and verify vehicle lengths;
Explain detailed policy and procedures to the traveling public;
Give out specific and generalized information about Alaska Marine Highway in person, and over the phone;
Process ticket load information for distribution to the other terminals and ferries;
Perform security sweeps and screening;
Handling heavy mooring lines to tie and untie vessels;
Perform janitorial duties (sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms and other public areas);
Snow removal using shovel, snow blower, and tractor with plow;
Yard maintenance using weed whacker and pruning shears;
Work weekends, holidays, various shifts and split shifts; and
