Job Summary & Essential Functions:

Suits up in protective paint suit and air-supplied respirator, gathers appropriate interior painting equipment, enters and exits railcar on approval of attendant, spray paints linings on the interior of railcars, and repairs poor interior lining paintwork.



Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Suits up in protective paint suit and air-supplied respirator to prepare for spray painting.
  • Gathers appropriate interior painting equipment for lining railcars, including scaffolding.
  • Only enters and exits the railcar upon approval of entry attendant in accordance with confined space procedures.
  • Spray paints linings on the interior of railcars using interior spray painting equipment in a paint bay.
  • When interior lining/paintwork has been identified as needing to be repaired, prepares and relines poor interior paintwork.
  • Using specific gauges to ensure that sprayed paint lining is to the required thickness and consistency.
  • Trouble shoots, maintains, and cleans paint equipment.
  • Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Group Leader - Paint.



Required Experience / Education / Training / Certifications:
  • Prefer a high school education or equivalent, and previous experience spray painting.
  • Must be willing to undergo on-the-job spray paint training.



Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:

  • Composite Toe Safety Shoes
  • Addition PPE per the appropriate JSA for the specific area that the Spray Painter - Interior may be working
