Location: Newington, NH primary, Support Exeter and Dover NH.

Position Summary:  Responsible for designing and implementing PLC based machine control systems for Automated and Semi Automated production equipment.   Design work includes PLC programming, Electrical cabinet design, specification and sourcing of electrical and electro-mechanical hardware.   Build electrical cabinets and panels for projects when required.  Also responsible for programming and integration of robots for assembly and machining operations.   Support existing PLC and robot based equipment to maintain factory throughput. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with mechanical engineers to generate concepts, detailed sequence of operations, and specify special electro-mechanical hardware to meet project requirements.

  • Manage multiple projects to synchronize with mechanical hardware delivery to meet final project deadlines.Document project progress with established project tracker for communication to team members and management.

  • Provide detailed documentation for PLC and robotic programs, I/O lists, bill of materials and electrical schematics.Maintain documentation if modifications are required.

  • Wire and build complete electrical panels, cabinets, and HMI displays.Wire completed machinery.

  • Thoroughly debug control systems with the mechanical engineer to meet Sig machine spec runoff requirements, NFPA 79 electrical and OSHA safety standards.

  • Quickly respond to trouble shoot existing production equipment to maintain output.This includes specialized assembly and test equipment, automated CNC equipment and robotic systems.

  • Communicate with all levels of production management and engineering regarding project status and troubleshooting duties.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to generate detailed machine specifications for turn-key, automated systems.
  • Research new technology for machine control systems and automation to reduce manufacturing cost and improve throughput.
  • Coach and train junior level controls engineers and electrical technicians.

Education and/or Experience

  • BS degree with 5+ years’ experience.AS degree or equivalent with 10+ years’ experience. HS diploma with 20+ years’ experience.

  • Proficiency with multiple PLC software packages including but not limited to Allen-Bradley and Mitsubishi

  • In depth knowledge of servo driven systems, load cells, sensors and HMI displays

  • In depth of hydraulics and pneumatics

  • In depth knowledge of NFPA 79 electrical and OSHA safety standards

  • Basic CAD skills for documentation of electrical schematics and panel layout.

  • Project management skills
