Japanese Bilingual Assistant Branch Manager
Location: Savannah GA 
FLSA Status: Exempt

This position is responsible for leading the Company's Savannah Branch by developing and enforcing policies, ensuring the attainment of operating goals, and contributing to overall corporate strategy.

Primary Job Functions 70%
Ensures Smooth Operations by directing the operating activities of one or more divisions; by understanding the functions of all divisions and making sure that the Branch functions productively; by establishing operating guidelines; and by ensuring that Staff perform assigned tasks accurately, allowing the Branch to maximize financial performance and limit risk.
Participates in Branch Decision Making by reporting to the Branch Manager, to the President and to other members of Senior Management on a weekly/monthly/annual basis about the branch's and Company’s overall business situation; by participating in the process of planning branch strategy and establishing short-term and long-term goals and business plans with the Branch Manager, the President and other members of Senior Management; by conferring with other managers to plan business objectives, develop branch policies, coordinate functions between divisions, and establish procedures in light of the Company’s corporate strategy; and by advising the President on needed actions.
Participates in Branch Budgetary Process by ensuring that the branch operates within budget; by assisting in the preparation of budgets and reports; by managing costs and increasing revenues; by assessing year-end budgetary results; by assuring that profit or year-end goals are attained: and by advising the President on needed actions.
Represents the Company by visiting key clients, soliciting new clients, providing support to the Sales team, and by maintaining relationship with vendors. May also attend relevant industry events as necessary in order to increase the presence of the Company; and continually exploree new ways to improve the Company’s image.
Supports HR, Accounting, Admin Functions by assisting with IT-related tasks, by supporting Fixed Asset control procedures, by conducting staff performance reviews and recommending salary adjustments, by contributing to recruiting efforts, by supporting certification requirements, and by participating in Accounting audits.
Manages Warehouse Division by monitoring daily operations and email correspondence, by training Operations staff, by providing Operations desk support as needed, by developing quotations as needed, by investigating claims and filing reports, by troubleshooting problems and providing counsel to staff, by developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions, by providing extra support to special accounts, by processing approvals,
and by establishing new procedures in response to regulatory changes and internal changes.
Supports the Special Projects Team by traveling to special projects job sites on an as-needed basis, by supporting new IT systems including Cargo Wise, Trade Tech, 3PL Central and others as may be introduced.

Secondary Job Functions 20%
Keeps Senior Management Informed by participating in meetings; by reporting problems to Senior Management verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems; and by recommending changes for improvements in the Company's functions to Senior Management.
Supervises Staff by providing direction and delegating responsibilities to subordinate Staff; by evaluating work performed by subordinate Staff; by training Staff when necessary; by providing subordinate Staff with regular feedback; by conducting Performance Appraisals; and by contributing to employment decisions (i.e. promotions, salary adjustments, termination, etc),
Complies with Federal, State, and Local Requirements by studying existing and new regulations; by enforcing adherence to requirements; by anticipating new regulations; by filing reports as necessary; and by advising Senior Management as needed.

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements & Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Staff Member is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The Staff Member is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to pick- up, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
The Staff Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
This position requires vision abilities such as close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (i.e. working in a business office with computers, printers, and telephones).
The Staff Member may be required to travel for business and work beyond normal business hours when necessary.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, forms and instructions in English and Japanese.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English and Japanese.
Ability to effectively respond to questions from Management, Staff, clients, and the general public in English.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups in English. Language Skills

Mathematical Skills
Ability to effectively deliver presentations to Managers, Staff, clients, and the general public in English.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills
Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry-out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to analyze and use various documents (contracts, purchase orders, etc.).

Computer Skills
Ability to use a computer and applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and be able to design custom reports as necessary.

Other Skills
Must be tactful, mature, flexible and able to successfully respond to multiple work pressures.
Must have supervisory skills and management experience.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university; and at least seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
